How to setup IMAP, POP, SMTP server settings for Microsoft Outlook

How to set up IMAP, POP, SMTP server settings for Microsoft Outlook?

Users use Outlook on various platforms like windows, android, mac, etc. These platforms support Outlook and users can use the most advanced email service on their respective platforms. To need to do Outlook SMTP Setting as well as POP and IMAP setting for the Outlook account.

Outlook POP Setting

Account type: POP3

Incoming mail server: pop3.live.com

Outgoing mail server (SMTP): smtp.live.com

Logon Information:

User Name: your complete email address

Password: your email account password

Go to “More Settings” and then click on the “Advanced” tab.

Enter these details:

Incoming server (POP3): Port 995.

Also, place a checkmark against “This server requires an encrypted connection (SSL)”.

Outgoing server (SMTP): Port 465.

Also, place a checkmark against “Use the following types of encrypted connection”.

Outlook IMAP setting

If you choose IMAP instead of POP3, use the following settings:

Account type: IMAP

Incoming mail server: imap-mail.outlook.com

Outgoing mail server (SMTP): smtp-mail.outlook.com

Other details to be same as in “POP3” server settings

Logon Information:

User Name: your complete email address

Password: your email account password

Go to “More Settings” and then click on the “Advanced” tab.

Enter these details:

Incoming server (IMAP): Port 993.

Also, place a checkmark against “This server requires an encrypted connection (SSL)”.

Outgoing server (SMTP): Port 465.

Also, place a checkmark against “Use the following types of encrypted connection”.

How to set up Outlook with Outlook SMTP Setting?

Start Outlook and click on the File menu.

Choose Info option.

Click on the “Add Account” option to add your account in Outlook.

Click on “Manually configure server settings or additional server types” and click Next.

Choose “Internet E-mail”, and click Next.

Enter your name and email id in the User Information field.

In the Server Information field, select the account type as POP3 or IMAP.

Enter these details:

Incoming mail server: mail.outlook.com

Incoming mail server: pop3.live.com

Outgoing mail server (SMTP): mail.outlook.com

In the Logon Information, enter these details:

User name: Your full email id

Password: The password of your email account

Place a tick mark on the “Remember password” check box.

Now click on the “More Settings” option.

Go to the “Outgoing Server” tab and enter these settings:

Place a tick mark in the check box saying “My outgoing server (SMTP) requires authentication”.

Also, click on “Use same settings as my incoming mail server”.

Now go to the “Advanced” tab and enter these settings:

Incoming Server (POP3): 995

Incoming Server (IMAP): 993

Outgoing Server (SMTP): 465

Select “SSL” in the “Use the following type of encrypted connection list” field in both incoming server as well as outgoing server.

Click OK.
