Next, we will detail how to configure Microsoft Outlook 2016 to send, receive and store email messages for an AOL address. Before you begin, make sure you know your AOL email address and your AOL password.

In the server type step, select POP3 or IMAP (according to your needs) for the type of Outlook 2016 email account, then click Next. It is not necessary to select the type of IMAP, because the AOL web-based account will retain a copy of all emails, just as an IMAP account would.
On the next screen, you will need to specify your Outlook 2016 AOL settings, such as your AOL username and password, the AOL server addresses, the AOL server ports, and the AOL display name of Outlook 2016.
In the User Information section, enter your Name (it can be anything, but remember that this will be the name/text that people will see when you send them an email through their Outlook 2016 AOL email) and their address AOL email.
In the Server Information section, enter the AOL servers:
POP AOL servers for Outlook 2016:
– Incoming mail server: pop.AOL.com
– Outgoing mail server: smtp.AOL.com.
IMAP AOL server for Outlook 2016:
– Incoming mail server: imap.AOL.com
– Outgoing mail server: smtp.AOL.com.
Alternatively, you can configure any other outgoing mail server to which you have access, such as your ISP’s SMTP server or your own hosted outgoing server. However, if you set up a third-party outgoing mail server, you will not have access to emails sent through your web-based AOL email panel.
